🌿 Creation, Maintenance, and Destruction: Finding Balance in Turbulent Times

We are living in turbulent times. According to the Vedas—the ancient wisdom from India, thousands of years old—there are always one of three processes happening at any given moment: creation, maintenance, or destruction.
None of these are better or worse than the others. Each serves an essential role in the natural order.
Take destruction, for example. It’s a powerful force in nature—one that removes what is no longer relevant or life-supporting. Consider the umbilical cord. For nine months, it is a lifeline between mother and child. Yet, once the baby is born, that same cord must be severed for life to continue. What once sustained becomes an obstacle to growth.
We see this cycle all around us. Fallen leaves decompose to enrich the soil and nourish the next generation of seedlings. Our skin sheds its outer layer to make room for new, healthy cells. In nature, destruction always serves the same purpose: it clears the way for creation.
🌺 The Cycle We’re Living Through
Right now, we find ourselves in the midst of a massive process of destruction. Systems, structures, and beliefs that once defined our world are being dismantled at a dizzying pace. It’s undeniable—this is not a drill.
At times like these, it’s easy to feel disheartened. But remember: creation always follows destruction. The key is to consciously participate in maintenance—to care for what remains vital and life-giving.
And you, dear meditator, are extremely relevant.
🕉️ Five Ways to Support the Process of Maintenance
1. Take Care of Your Health—Starting with Vedic Meditation
Vedic Meditation is one of the most effective ways to de-excite the nervous system and give the body deep, restorative rest—up to five times more restful than sleep. With a twice-daily practice, we stay grounded in Being, anchored amidst the noise and change.
When the world feels unstable, meditation restores stability within. It helps us make clear, intuitive decisions and respond to life’s challenges with calm and wisdom.
2. Protect Your Bandwidth
You cannot champion every cause—and that’s okay.
Choose where your heart calls you to serve, and let the rest go. Whether it’s women’s rights, climate change, or democracy, your contribution is most powerful when it’s focused.
Equally important: do not judge others for choosing differently. Someone focusing on family or spirituality is not necessarily indifferent to your cause—they’re simply following their own dharma.
And please, protect your attention. Limit your time with the news and avoid doom-scrolling. Stay informed just enough to act wisely, then turn it off and return to Being.
3. Find Unity
During turbulent times, we can become quick to criticize and slow to reflect. But division only deepens the pain of destruction.
Remember—we share far more in common than we think. Seek unity with those who think differently. Sometimes one genuine conversation can bridge divides that decades of argument could not.
It’s wonderful to gather with fellow meditators and like-minded souls, but don’t stay inside the “lighthouse convention.” Take your light into the world. Shine it in dark places. You’ll find that people are naturally drawn to peace—and to those who radiate it.
4. Spend Time in Nature
When the world feels overwhelming, go outside.
Turn off your phone, put on your sneakers, and walk among living things. Let the green of the trees, the crunch of leaves, and the vastness of the sky remind you that life is always renewing itself. Nature holds the blueprint for balance. She teaches us resilience without words.
5. Trust the Process
Even as old systems crumble, the intelligence of nature continues its work. Creation, maintenance, and destruction are not separate—they are the pulse of evolution itself.
Your role is simple: care for what’s alive and relevant, release what’s not, and stay connected to the Source within. From that place of Being, you’ll know exactly what to do next.
